Day to day Best of Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1 - Arusha - Tarangire National Park
Pick up from Arusha early in the morning and drive for around 2 hours along a nice paved road to Tarangire National Park. This park is along the way when you take the Arusha – Dodoma Road, past Makuyuni Junction. Tarangire National Park is the place to be if you want to see elephant herds in large numbers, as well as other big game and birdlife. Dotted with gigantic baobab trees, Tarangire National Park is one of the parks where you can spot most of the big five, including leopards, buffaloes, lions, and elephants, with the exception of the rhino. The park derives its name from the Tarangire River, which flows across the park, ensuring the park is teeming with wildlife throughout the year. You will go on game drives until later in the afternoon, then transfer to Mto wa Mbu, where you will spend the night at a campsite near Lake Manyara. Lunch and dinner included.
Day 2 - Ngorongoro Crater tour
This morning, we will wake up very early and transfer through Karatu township, arriving promptly at Loduare Main Gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area . Here, you will register to gain access to the NCAA. A brief stop at the Crater’s Viewpoint allows guests to alight from the jeeps and enjoy stunning views over the Crater floor, providing an opportunity to take pictures. Afterward, we descend to the Crater floor, where the majority of animals reside.
Today, you’ll spend most of the day at the base of the ‘World’s Largest Caldera,’ engaging in game drives to spot the Big Five and many other animals that can be observed at close range in this area. Ngorongoro Crater boasts the largest concentration of wild animals in their natural habitat. Lunch will be a picnic at one of the designated sites. In the afternoon, you will ascend to the Crater rim, where you can camp at Simba Campsite or return to Mto wa Mbu, checking in again at your campsite. If desired, you can inquire about the price to stay at the Crater’s rim. All meals are included: breakfast, lunch/lunchbox, and dinner.
Day 3 - Lake Manyara safari - back to Arusha
Enjoy breakfast at your campsite, freshly prepared by our professionally trained safari cooks. Then, you’ll enter the Lake Manyara National Park at the base of the Great Rift Valley, which runs from North to South Africa.
On the third and final day of your safari, immerse yourself in this small gem of a park, constantly lush and green with leafy forests fed by underground rivers. Despite its size, the park’s beauty is unparalleled. Engage in game drives in the plains, where you may spot elephants and giraffes as you pass through the forests near the park’s entrance. The park is also home to thousands of primates, including cheeky monkeys and large troops of baboons.
Covering two-thirds of the park (220 square kilometers), the lake itself is home to hippos and a variety of aquatic birds, including cormorants, Egyptian geese, herons, as well as Greater and Lesser flamingos that flock to the lake. In the afternoon, depending on your schedule, you will be transferred back to Arusha, marking the end of your safari.
