🐘 4 Days Camping Safari Itinerary

Day 1:

Arusha to Tarangire National Park to Karatu

After breakfast in Arusha, you will drive about three hours to Tarangire National Park. This park is famous for having many elephants, especially during the dry season. You will go on a game drive to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and many other animals. You will also have a picnic lunch inside the park. Later in the day, you will drive to Karatu for your overnight stay.

Tarangire is also known for its beautiful landscapes, with large baobab trees, green swamps, and the Tarangire River that attracts many animals. During the game drive, you might also see animals like impalas, warthogs, buffaloes, and even tree-climbing lions. Bird lovers will enjoy seeing many colorful birds around the park. It’s a peaceful and special place that gives you a great start to your safari adventure.

Travel Time

The travel time from Arusha to Tarangire National Park is about 2 to 2.5 hours (depending on traffic and road conditions).

If you do a round trip (Arusha → Tarangire → Arusha) in the same day, the total driving time will be around 4 to 5 hours.

Most people prefer to visit Tarangire, enjoy a full game drive, then continue to stay overnight in Karatu or nearby, instead of going back to Arusha the same day. This saves time and energy for the next day’s safari

Day 2:

Karatu to Serengeti Central for Game Drive

After a good breakfast, you will start your journey with a beautiful drive of about four hours to the famous Serengeti National Park. When you arrive, you will go on an exciting game drive to explore the wide open plains of this amazing park.

In Serengeti, you might see the great wildebeest migration, where millions of animals like wildebeests and zebras move across the land—it’s something truly special to see. You will also look for the “Big Five”: lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalos. Along the way, you might also spot cheetahs, giraffes, hyenas, and many more animals. The views in Serengeti are also beautiful, with big rocky hills, rivers, and endless grasslands all around. It’s a day full of adventure and wonderful memories.

In the afternoon, you will drive for about 3 hours to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way, you’ll enjoy more animal sightings. By evening, you’ll arrive at your lodge, have dinner, and rest. The peaceful sounds of nature will help you sleep and get ready for another exciting day.
