6 Days Mid Range Lodge Safari in Tanzania — Itinerary Overview

Day 1:

Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Elephants & Baobabs

our safari starts after breakfast in Arusha, where your guide will meet you for the journey to Tarangire National Park. The drive takes about 3 hours and offers beautiful views of the Tanzanian countryside. Tarangire is well known for its large herds of elephants and giant baobab trees. It’s one of the best parks for game viewing, especially during the dry season.

Upon arrival, you’ll go on an exciting game drive through the park. Watch for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and even tree-climbing pythons. You’ll stop for a picnic lunch inside the park and enjoy your meal while listening to the sounds of the wild. In the late afternoon, you’ll head to Karatu and check in at The Plantation Lodge, a beautiful lodge set in the green hills near Ngorongoro. Here you will have dinner and relax for the night.

OVERNIGHT & MEAL PLAN

Note:
The estimated travel time (ETA) from Arusha town to Tarangire National Park is about 2 to 3 hours by car, depending on traffic and road conditions. The distance is approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles). For a smooth and comfortable journey, we recommend starting early in the morning and using a 4×4 private safari vehicle, especially during the rainy season or if you’re heading straight into a game drive.

Day 2:

Karatu to Serengeti Central – The Legendary Plains

After breakfast, begin your journey towards Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. On the way, you’ll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the highland views are stunning. The drive to Serengeti takes about 4 hours, but there’s plenty to see along the way, including Maasai villages and wildlife.

When you arrive in Serengeti, your game drive begins. The central part, known as Seronera, is rich in wildlife year-round. This region is famous for large prides of lions, leopards resting in trees, and cheetahs sprinting across the plains. You’ll have time to explore the savannah before heading to your camp for the night. Your accommodation will be at Serengeti Sound of Silence, a comfortable tented lodge where you can listen to the sounds of the wilderness.

After the morning game drive, begin your journey toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying wildlife viewing along the way. In the late afternoon, arrive back in Karatu and spend the night again at The Plantation Lodge, where you can relax and enjoy a delicious dinner.

This is one of the most anticipated days of your safari. After breakfast, head to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken caldera. You’ll descend into the crater for a full-day game drive where you’ll have the chance to spot an incredible variety of animals, including the rare black rhino.

The scenery here is like nowhere else—lush landscapes, lake views, and a high concentration of wildlife in a small area. Midday, enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, a favorite resting place for hippos. After the game drive, return to your accommodation at The Plantation Lodge in Karatu.

After breakfast, set out for a full-day trip to Lake Manyara National Park, known for its lush groundwater forests and diverse ecosystems. This hidden gem is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large elephant herds, and thousands of flamingos.

You’ll explore the park during a game drive and take part in the Lake Manyara Treetop Walkway, offering a unique perspective from high above the forest floor. The walkway stretches through the canopy and is a fantastic way to see birds and monkeys up close. After the adventure, return to The Plantation Lodge for your final night in Karatu.
