Day 1:

Serengeti National park

Guests enjoy breathtaking views of the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti. Your Tanzania balloon safari begins when you’re picked up from your lodge or camp around 6:00 AM and taken to Seronera Lodge.

Shortly after, you’ll board a Land Rover for a 40-minute drive to the launch site, arriving in time to see the sunrise and watch the balloon being inflated. After a quick safety briefing, you’ll board the balloon and take off.

The flight path and time depend on the wind and weather, but it usually lasts about an hour. You’ll soar up to 1,000 feet for stunning views of the plains and also glide low, near treetops, for a closer look at the wildlife. The balloon’s ‘whisper’ burners help keep noise to a minimum,

and there will be plenty of quiet moments during the smooth, peaceful ride since you move with the wind. The animals and birds you see will depend on the season and your luck, but every sighting will be from a unique and exciting view

After the balloon lands near a game trail, the pilot will celebrate with a champagne toast. The crew, who stay in contact by radio, will pack up the balloon and take you to a breakfast spot set up under a tree on the plains. You’ll enjoy a freshly cooked, full English breakfast in this unforgettable setting. After receiving your certificate, you’ll head back to Seronera Lodge, arriving around 9:30 AM.

This adventure is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, often the highlight of many guests’ safaris. There is also a new base in the Western Corridor of the Serengeti for those staying in luxury camps like Grumeti River Camp, Kirawira Camp, and Mbalageti Camp. The two main balloons in central Serengeti, near Seronera, will continue to operate as usual.
