Best time for 2-day safari Dar es Salaam to Mikumi?
Best time to visit Mikumi just like other parks in Tanzania is the Dry season, that stretches from June to October, for wildlife viewing in the park. Mikumi is however an all year park (including April / May) due to the tendency by the animals gathering around very predictable water sources such as the Mkata River in the vast wildlife rich Mkata flood plain that stretches for the better part of the park.

Day to day Best of Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Leave Dar es Salaam for Mikumi National Park.
This early morning you will be picked up by your safari guide from your residence in Dar es Salaam or your hotel or even from the Airport if you arrive early enough and you will drive out of the city as quick as possible to beat the traffic jams. Soon you will be out of town and drive at a steady pace along the Mbeya Highway via Chalinze and Morogoro town arriving by mid-morning or early afternoon depending on your departure time from Dar es Salaam. Lunch can be taken at a camp inside the park or along the way and as soon as you register at the park’s entrance at Mikumi National Park you will embark on your first game drive in search of wild animals and birds. You will do game drives until later in the afternoon before dark when you will check in at a lodge camp at Mikumi National Park or just outside the park for a well deserved refreshing shower followed by dinner and overnight. Overnight at Camp Bastian; a nice budget lodge just outside the park’s boundaries. (Lunch and Dinner included).
Other camps also available depending on your budget and preference for an upgrade
Day 2: Mikumi National Park – back to Dar es Salaam.
Early morning breakfast then you will enter the Mikumi Park again for one last game drive to see any animals that you might have missed on the first day. This is also a good time to try your luck in spotting some nocturnal species as well as other animals which tend to line up along the game viewing tracks as they avoid the morning dew. After enough game drives and depending on your plans you will leave Mikumi National Park and drive back to Dar es Salaam with drop off being at the Airport if departing, or at your hotel in CBD or residence.Breakfast and Lunch included.
*It is important to note that this safari involves long drives of about 4 to 5 hours and sometimes more depending on the traffic floor and traffic police control along this busy highway to Mikumi National Park.

We had an amazing experience, even though it was quite tough (especially because of the rainy season). We made it to the top thanks to this wonderful crew. They even shared their rain jacket and waterproof gloves with us. The chef prepared delicious meals, and the waiter took great care of us (including water to wash ourselves, tea, popcorn and hot water in a bottle to keep us warm during the night). Happyson and team spared no efforts and we had a lot of fun together. On the fourth day, right before the gate, we were surprised by seeing so many wild animals and the beautiful waterfall. The two giraffes at just a few meters away was amazing. Would definitely recommend!! Romy H2023-11-28 Safari with David from Seko tours David was our guide for our 2 day Tarangire and 1 day Ngorongoro safari. We were with a group of 4 friends and David was the best guide we could wish for. He had a lot of knowledge about the area, the animals, the culture, actually about everything. He could find every amimal we wanted to see including the difficult to spot cheeta, leopard and rhino. He did everything to get us the best spot to view and photograph the animals. When viewing, he told us a lot of intersting facts about the animals and the area they are in. Between the safari days David also was our driver to all locations in between, always on time and always with surprises, like beer or a great warm lunch. Thanks David you made our trip really worth it!! Avdb2023-10-28 Best Safari guides with a lot of knowledge, friendliness and fun We had a wonderful experience with our guides Shabani (mr walking encyclopedia) and John (mr juice). We went to Tarangiri, Serengeti and Ngorogoro in 2 cars with a family of 7. Both guides learned us a lot on the animals and really were motivated to give us the best time possible. They are friendly, happy and the best guides you could wish for. We saw all animals we wanted to see multiple times and had a lot of fun together. Cindy V2023-07-24
