The Rufiji River Camp - The Facts

Rufiji is one of the oldest lodges in Nyerere National Park (once called The Selous Game Reserve). It’s owned by the Foxes family and was recently renovated, providing a clean and comfy place to stay inside the park.

The lodge is close to the Mtemere gate and has easy access to the Rufiji River for boat safaris. It’s just a 45-minute flight from Dar es Salaam, making it a great choice for a Tanzania safari.

The main area is built with stone and large thatched roofs, giving it a solid feel compared to other tented camps. There are soft chairs to relax in while enjoying views of the Rufiji River.

There are 14 tents with private bathrooms along the river, each with an open stone patio – perfect for relaxing after lunch or having morning tea with wildlife around. Three of the tents are larger family suites that can sleep up to four people.

The camp offers game drives in open-sided vehicles, walking safaris, and fly camping.
